The fiCS Story

fiCS’s story begins with High Profile Solutions’ (‘HPS’) founder, Andrew Batten, a process engineer and quality assurance specialist. International experience gained in the United Kingdom, France and New Zealand with companies such as Eaton Transmission, The Ford Motor Company and Coopers & Lybrand (CL) consultancy exposed a wide variety of business processes in many industries. From the health sector, underground mining and the utility industries an early understanding of compliance was also developed.

Andrew’s role with CL as Associate Director in their risk management division included selling and implementing their risk management software. This commonly revealed the same business process challenges – maintaining data accuracy, ensuring timely information access and providing meaningful interpretation. And although these industries had unique terminology, the underlying business processes were the same.

Awareness of these common and very frustrating problems coupled with a halt on internal software development due to CL’s merger with Price Waterhouse (PWC), created an opportunity.

The goal to create a transparent system to simplify and capture business processes and to speed up relevant data access for all was quickly realised. One of the most enjoyable aspects was building an alternative centralised solution to replace the commonly found multiple independent systems. These can require double or triple data entry with bespoke report creation due to different data stores. Or as business demands change their maintenance and continued integration becomes increasingly costly.

In-house development and maintenance of such systems steals internal IT resource away from their core business functions. Releasing highly trained staff from administration to focus on more productive tasks is rewarding for the fiCS team and very cost effective. 

During the fiCS system design and development a strong focus on meeting users’ needs was kept. This led to the evolution of a unique tool delivering practical and transparent solutions to all medium and large organisations. Some of the most valuable outputs arrive automatically without even logging on to the system.

fiCS has grown from a leader in compliance management software to become a powerful and preferred tool for business process management and continued improvement running on a .NET framework.

HPS has the skills, knowledge and experience to diagnose the weakest links in business processes. Releasing these profit traps using the fiCS system will drive change with results which can be seen.
