Managing Director and Founder

fiCS has been the culmination of an idea I had while working with and consulting to large international high compliance organisations. I’ve always wanted to connect and interconnect systems.

For over 25 years while I worked at Ford Motor Company in management teams in engineering and quality positions and Siemens Energy Services where I oversaw compliance in quality, environmental, safety and risk management sectors it became obvious there were processes that could be significantly streamlined.

Over the last eight years I’ve focused on developing fiCS alongside the needs of High Profile Solutions’ key customers. I enjoy watching people use the software we’ve developed and seeing how much easier we’ve made their lives. Seeing a product evolve from an idea into a practical tool used every day is very satisfying.

The challenge has always been keeping in step with changing technology. You have to be first and be prepared to constantly invest and develop new processes. And that’s what fascinates me the most about software development.

What drives us at High Profile is a passion for developing platforms that deliver tangible benefits to a company. I’ve often woken up at three in the morning and thought “wow, that’s a brilliant idea, we’ve got to try this.”

I’m fascinated by the functionality of software and the thought patterns behind it. Currently we’re working on reverse engineering software with the aim that information is personalised. In the My Profile module for example, content can be personalised and made relevant to each user. I love watching the reaction when people see how the software can simplify their lives.

The major issue we deal with is that companies still don’t value operational compliance and are often reluctant to invest money in technology. They don’t rationalise the expense of the software. I liken it to the cost-per-wear concept. You may spend money on an expensive pair of shoes but you’ll get more use from them and you’ll look and feel better too. Over time its money well spent.

Although fiCS is a big part of my life I do take time out to relax. Playing squash is a great stress reliever and having three grandchildren definitely keeps my life in perspective.
