IT Implementation and Development Manager

I’ve been with High Profile Solutions since 2001 when Andrew asked me to help design the structure and initial core components of the fiCS solution. I was born and raised in Croatia and completed a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering before coming to New Zealand in 1984.

Before moving into software development I worked as a power systems analyst consulting to among others Mercury Energy, HGM Power, Trust Power and WEL Energy. My role was to advise on everything from electrical distribution to power lines. I worked on electrical network planning and fault resolution, calculating currents and developing improvements.

To make my job easier I developed software programmes to speed up several processes. This gradually grew into a full time job and as the power of the internet developed I realised that programmes that worked with an internet browser was the way of the future.

its been very satisfying to create a software solution that companies such as Siemens and IBM rate highly. That is the best reward for me.

What I enjoy most about creating these software products is the whole process of starting from just an idea and putting thoughts around an application to create something highly functional.

As fiCS senior programmer, I oversee the development of all the new applications. The only thing that really gives me grey hairs is dealing with bugs and smoothing out the transition between adding new codes to existing platforms.

When I’m not working on fiCS my favourite pastime is spending time with my family. My two children are teenagers so they don’t want to do as much with us anymore which gives my wife and me a chance to plan trips away. We like taking day trips to Tauranga or the Cromondel for a picnic lunch and then back home.
