What fiCS MIS Can Do For You

Integrated Management Information Systems relieve frustration

Management information systems integration impacts on the bottom line. Having more than one system to run compliance management creates extra work and increasing licensing costs. Support and maintenance costs are increasing as IT managers must have specialist knowledge across a range of different systems. While IT teams are having to solve a problem in one system, others have to wait which results in costly delays.

There is often duplication between management information systems, introducing inefficiencies and potential confusion. MIS centralisation simplifies data management, system support, user training, knowledge management and most importantly information retrieval.

fiCS improves corporate governance as senior executives have access to a situation overview with drill down to detail in real time.

Management Systems Integration

  • Mergers and acquisition
  • Suppliers
  • Customers

Easy benchmarking between organisations ensure that a structured approach is taken to define and manage a client’s or a supplier’s corporate security infrastructure. This demonstrates compliance with recognised international standards and legislation. Two companies coming together to share the fiCS system as a joint venture. These may be competitor/s and/or partners, eg having a corporate system that allows joint venture partners to see and manage appropriate compliance requirements and information for the joint venture, without seeing the other’s confidential non joint venture information.

When competing against other suppliers for new contracts, the risk management system is becoming the key differentiator. Evidence of an effective business process including strong compliance management and risk mitigation is a point of difference that can ultimately win the contract.

Technical Specification

The fiCS software system is structured on a four-tiered architecture that encapsulates the four principal areas of interaction: user interface, business rules, data logic and database.

The package works on Internet Explorer and any other browser that supports ActiveX, ASP and ASP.net. The client components support Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 workstations.

The Application server is WINDOWS 2000 server (or higher) as a Web Server and the Data servers may be Windows 2003, 2000, NT 4, SUN or HP Unix servers or Web Server itself. The fiCS software currently supports SQL Server v 7 on NT 4 or higher and using standard database interface applications and protocols the fiCS solution can be integrated with other popular SQL products, such as DB2, Oracle, Sybase, etc.

The application’s COM+ components are developed in 32-bit Visual Basic and for graphical representation uses Microsoft ASP (Active Server Pages)/ASP.NET technology that integrates VB and Java scripting and C#.NET languages, as well as Extensible Markup Language (XML), Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Data manipulation is performed through SQL and ADO/ADO.NET technology.

The system utilises Microsoft Reporting Services as the underlying reporting engine.

The fiCS application is provided in intranet applications in open-source configuration enabling administrator level access to all system components.

We are a Microsoft and Citrix registered partner.

Our system is being developed into a standalone self managing outsourcing system with both web and intranet hosting options with identical functionality capabilities. We have an extensive IT support network with offices in New Zealand, Australia and China.

Each site, location or country can have its own time based and legislative requirements.

System Security

Ensuring the confidentiality of data within an organisation is a priority in a competitive environment. fiCS solutions consider security a priority and have built in four levels of access within the system.

Application Level Security

fiCS allows for two security roles within this level – Administrator and User. The Site Administrator has full access to all the application modules operating within the system. User access is defined by the Site Administrator and can be set at full or restricted to all or specific modules as decided by the Site Administrator.

User Level Security

The Site Administrator can create as many security groups as required which will each have their own defined access levels and which can then be assigned to individual Users. The system generates automatic emails supplying details and encrypted passwords.

Form Level Security

All forms check a Users security access level and functions such as Read/Write/Update/Add/Delete etc are only accessible according to the security level.

Record Level Security

User access levels determine the amount of data or records that are accessible. It’s also possible to add filters to sort records that are relevant for a particular user based on the work roles that user may have and where the user resides in the organisational structure.

Training

fiCS TrainingfiCS software has been designed to be intuitive and user-friendly. Ease of use means shorter training cycles and less cost overall. fiCS provides the following training opportunities:

Train-the-Trainer for general End-Users:

Two days per group of six end-users is allocated to cover the core modules (Incident, Corrective Actions, Hazard, Training Management and Reports) assuming attendees are fairly competent and computer literate.

Train-the-Trainer for Database Administrators:

One day per group of six key end-users is estimated for database administrators learning to use the core modules (Contractor, Administration/Security and Organisational Management) assuming attendees are fairly competent and computer literate.

Ad Hoc Training:

Refresher sessions on the different modules can be organised as required.
